We require every foreign national to possess a valid visa that confers both the right to reside and the right to be employed in the UK. Evidence must be provided confirming that the visa remains valid up until the point of completion. Should the remaining duration of the visa be short, we will either request an updated visa sharecode during the assessment process or make the provision of such a sharecode a condition of the mortgage offer.
- Where a customer holds a family visa, the sponsor must be a joint party to the mortgage application. This requirement is waived only if the sponsor is ineligible to be a party to the loan due to legal incapacity (e.g., the dependant is a minor in 'Private Life' visa scenarios)
- Certain visa categories, such as Student visas (previously Tier 4), which stipulate limitations on working hours, may be considered for acceptance following a case-by-case review
- Where a customer holds a Skilled Worker visa, acceptance is contingent upon their employment being in a field relevant to the visa requirements, thereby enabling the customer to renew or extend their visa beyond its initial expiry
We do not operate a prescribed list of acceptable visa types.
